Importance of Growth Monitoring
By - Danone Nutricia Academy

Growth Monitoring of all children at periodic intervals (at least till 5 years) is of utmost importance as it gives an idea of a child’s nutritional status, any endocrinal disorders or prevalence of any chronic systemic illness.1

Other common anthropometric measurements used to assess growth in young children are mid upper arm circumference, chest circumference and head circumference.

Early detection of growth abnormalities can aid in timely intervention and thereby can improve growth prognosis5. Children whose growth monitoring is done periodically, have a better nutritional status and better survival rate4.
